SALIKANA BAYAN (Samahang Likha para sa Kabataan ng ating Bayan – rough translation: youth group created for our nation) in the Philippines is a youth movement of the religious community of Alagad ni Maria (A.M.). It consists of high school students who commit themselves to come together. They respond to the people by developing and dedicating themselves and becoming witnesses to the values that would lead to total human development of their fellow youth. The group also aspires to develop among their peers a reasoned commitment to cherish, preserve and promote moral and spiritual values and aspects of their national heritage that would lead to a sound and productive participation of the youth in Philippine society.

This very exciting and energetic youth group is active in many private and public high schools in several regions of the country. The group involves thousands of students and lay teacher-advisers, with the leadership and guidance of A.M. seminarians who minister to them. All throughout the year, SALIKANA BAYAN conducts many leadership training and workshops, retreats, prayer rallies and assemblies, fellowships and sporting events. The SALIKANA BAYAN is the main youth ministry of the A.M.. The latter has a unique, extensive and immersive formation program that heavily involves all A.M. seminarians in youth ministry in tandem with their ongoing academic and spiritual formation. It is no surprise then that 100% of A.M.’s vocations are the direct byproducts of SALIKANA BAYAN youth ministry.

If you happen to visit Philippines and you wish to be filled with the Holy Spirit and the amazing energy of the youth, check out SALIKANA BAYAN in action.
